As I look South from Donegal, Knockarea in Sligo is just behind Ben Bulben. In the window, I watched a wasp die in the web of a much smaller spider with Knockarea in the distance, it gave me a much needed perspective on death and grief. The earthen banks on Knockarea are a unique feature of the Irish neolithic period as nothing similar has been found elsewhere in Ireland. Maybe we’re just lucky it was too inaccessible for bulldozers and is now protected by its pride of place on the Wild Atlantic Way.
